Assist the blade repair team when working at height and on the ground.

Senior Wind Technician Jobs Requirements – Travel (United States)

  • As a Senior Wind Technician (travel-based role), you will perform the following tasks:
  • Collaborate with as a Resource Manager and Site Leadership to meet contractual requirements
  • Have to maintain daily operational activities, including servicing electrical and mechanical components on GE wind turbine generators across North America.
  • Have to assist with all aspects of site preparation, including coordinat ing labor and materials with minimal supervision.
  • Need to attend pre-job meetings to review schedules, weather conditions, LOTO (Lock Out Tag Out) procedures, potential hazards, and site-specific/customer requirements.
  • have to diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues on wind turbines, including conducting detailed electrical diagnostics.
  • Perform maintenance, repairs, and replacement of parts to resolve wind turbine malfunctions.
  • All work performed using company-provided technology must be properly documented.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent, and
  • At least 4 years of experience as a wind technician, and
  • Successfully completed a technical knowledge assessment

  • At least 4 years of experience as an electromechanical technician, and

  • Must have possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
  • Most required that is willing and able to travel 100% of the time as required.
  • Must be capable of regularly lifting up to 50 lbs and climbing wind turbine towers up to 300 feet.
  • Meet manufacturer-specified weight limits, not exceeding 300 lbs including all required climbing gear.
  • Able to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical drawings.

As the fleet gets older and RWECE expands the position is designed to support our growing asset base and the increasing maintenance activity that is usually associated with an aging system.

Be a part of Wind Operations:

  • Assess the criticality of each drivetrain component failure mode and assess the possibility of catastrophic failure
  • Backs root cause analysis and corrective action of drivetrain damage and failures
  • Lastly, do drivetrains_ accordingly Pop Matrix of the slot.
  • Support (and/or workout, in coordination with third-party consultants) root cause analysis to identify primary contributors to key failures and identify and implement solutions that address plant operation efficiency and/or safety or technical reliability concerns
  • Measurement and KPI’s to guide the performance of the team on project delivery and accuracy.
  • Lead efforts to establish engineering practices and processes that enhance quality, productivity, and performance
  • Behave in line with the Company’s values and conduct as embodied in RWECE’s HR policies

Job Requirements and Experiences as a Mechanical Engineering:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent from an accredited university is required Advanced degree preferred
  • At least 5 years related experience in mechanical engineering is desired
  • Practical experience using equipment used for renewable energy in the field, such as utility-scale wind turbines
  • Proven ability to lead root cause and corrective action problem 
  • Solving for mechanical components Proven ability to create component or repair specifications and qualify mechanical components for purchase or repair with suppliers
  • Good interpersonal skills, capable of relationship management with customers Proven eagerness to get to know Company and the renewables sector
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Power Point, Outlook)
