Wind Turbine Technician Job Description
As a Wind Turbine Technician at NextEra Energy, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe, reliable and efficient operation of turbines and will be responsible for field-based maintenance, diagnostics and performance optimization of renewable energy systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with other teams to implement maintenance strategies and improvement projects
- Conduct regular preventive maintenance and troubleshooting (electrical, electronic and mechanical)
- Conduct routine preventative maintenance and troubleshooting (electrical, electronic, and mechanical)
- Follow OSHA safety regulations and implement company safety policies
- Contribute to Lean Six Sigma projects to optimize operations
- Support environmental and safety reporting
- Recruit, mentor and train junior technicians
- Collaborate with other teams to implement maintenance strategies and improvement projects
- Maintain all assigned equipment and tools
- Professionally represent NextEra Energy within the community Will
- Be the designated equipment and tool maintainer
- Professionally represent NextEra Energy in the community
Wind turbine technician requirements
- Education: High School Diploma or GED
- Experience: 1.5+ years in a technical role or completion of a technical certificate/degree program
- License: Valid non-commercial driver’s license
- Physical Requirements: Ability to climb wind turbines (up to 300 feet); must pass a Post-Offer Functional Capacity Evaluation (FCE)
What does a wind turbine technician do
Under general supervision, a wind turbine technician:
- Have to performs preventive and corrective maintenance on wind turbines
- have diagnoses mechanical and electrical faults
- have to maintains company equipment, tools, and facilities
- Capabolity to manages training milestones and meets attendance expectations
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned
