This is not… average 9-5 job This is a NATIONWIDE travel role. You will be traveling for up to 6 weeks. STAY ON THE road with leading wind turbine maintenance, repair, and gearbox troubleshooting. Located in the DFW area This is an opportunity to work for a company that is deeply engaged in the front lines of clean energy, wind gear drives, and industrial gearbox services.

Traveling wind gearbox technician careers USA

The Field Service Department at NGC America will be providing technical and field support for the wind gear drive business and, in the future, the industrial gearbox division. This team is critical to performing customer requests, warranty claims, and regular maintenance.

Your responsibilities will include:

Nationwide Travel & Site Support

  • Disincentivized to bounce around the US on 6 week stints
  • Work nationwide in various wind farm locations from Texas to the Midwest, Arizona, Oklahoma, and even coastal wind projects.
  • Perform on-site gearbox troubleshooting, repairs, and customer support

Mechanical Troubleshooting & Repair

  • Conducting Mechanical troubleshooting of wind turbine (main, pitch, yaw gearboxes)
  • Please help with Turbina mechanical component withdrawal/replacement.
  • Experience interpreting and reading mechanical drawings, schematics, and service manuals.

Safety & Compliance

  • Follow company’s safety policies, PPE procedures, OSHA standards strictly
  • Uptower rescues, Emergency response (must complete within 4 minutes)
  • Successfully completing physical exams and drug/alcohol screenings and passing safety certifications.

Field Reporting & Communication

  • Work directly with field service supervisors, coordinators, and project leaders.
  • Perform daily, weekly, and monthly inspections and maintain a time log or service checklist.
  • Write technical reports for warranty issues and customer updates.

Customer Service & Teamwork

  • You must possess strong communication to give high-quality service.
  • Work as an onsite representative of NGC America, fronting the customer
  • Rapid adaptability to new and novel sites, situations, and mechanical inconveniences.

Physical Requirements/Work Environment Addendum

  • Demands on Field Service Technicians (Field Service Technicians must be both physically and mentally fit.
  • Frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts, noise, and electrical hazards.
  • Multiple daily work at tower heights in excess of 300 feet
  • Able to lift and carry up to 100 lbs. alone
  • Conduct uptower-to-ground rescues in less than 4 min.
  • Be weather resistant in all weather: from Texas heat to Midwest winter storms.
  • In this part stamina, flexibility, and a serious regard for safety protocols are warranted.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education: High school or equivalent; technical training/mechanical trade education preferred in lieu of experience.
  • Requirement: 1 year of prior experience with a related degree or the equivalent.

Skills:

  • Wind Gearbox Strong mechanical background
  • Understand Microsoft Office, Salesforce, and iAuditor.
  • Read and interpret drawings/schematics.
  • Superior written and oral communication skills

Credentials:

  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Passport (international travel might be necessary).
  • GE 1 – 4.X experience is a plus.
  • GE LOTO qualified is a plus.
  • Bilingual (English-Mandarin) is a plus.
