As an Offshore Wind Electrical Technician Careers, you will have the opportunity to support working environments that are fast-paced and conduct electrical and mechanical operations throughout the entire lifecycle of offshore wind projects. Offshore Wind Technicians Responsibilities

  • Conduct electric operations with both high and low voltages.
  • Support wind turbine erection, installation, and service.
  • Use of Condition Monitoring and Remote Control 2.
  • Maintain all operations in compliance with safety and environmental requirements.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical and hydraulic issues.
  • Keep accurate logs and reports of follow-up.

Wind Technicians Qualifications

  • Strong English(Oral and written).
  • SEP Certified or other electrical certificates.
  • Previous background as FST in High Voltage applications.
  • Excellent debugging and analytical skills.
  • A willingness to travel / work on offshore wind sites.
  • Must be available for shift rotation (2 weeks on, 2 weeks off).

  • Pay: $50–$60 per hour (DOE)

GE is seeking a Turbine Technician for Aero Alliance, a joint venture between GE and Baker Hughes, to be based in Houston, Texas on 1st shift. The LM6000, LM2500, and LMS100 aero-derivative gas turbine engines, components and modules will require assembly, disassembly, inspection, testing and maintenance in this hands-on position. In this position, you will be an integral player in supporting the mission of GE to deliver the world faster, cheaper, and greener power through innovative energy technologies.

What to Expect from a 1st Shift Turbine Technician Role at GE

In your role as a Turbine Technician, you will be responsible for:

  • Assemble and disassemble gas turbine engines and related parts using technical data (specifications and/or drawings)
  • Using routers, manuals, and quality benchmarks to conduct detailed inspections and determine serviceability.
  • All work performed should be logged and documented as necessary for the Quality Management System (QMS)
  • Diagnosing engine issues, including parts breakdowns, or mechanical failures
  • Using a wide selection of precision measuring tools and mechanical instruments, such as torque wrenches, micrometers and dial indicators
  • Omissions with regards to safety, environmental, housekeeping policies which cause F.O.D (foreign object damage.
  • Potentially collaborating with team members and leadership to support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Potential to work flexibly to service operational and customer needs.

Wind Turbine Technician Skills Needed

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 2 years of experiencehands-on working experience on gas turbines or aircraft engines - OR – 1 year of experience as a Turbine Technician at the Jport facility;
  • Able to lift and carry up to 40 lbs and perform physical tasks safely.
  • Ability to Read Technical Manual and Communicate in English

Wind Energy Technician Safety Rules

  • Experience with LM2500, LM6000, LMS100 or comparable gas turbine engine packages
  • Experience with borescope inspections, balancing and component-level diagnostics.
  • Experience with, or historical exposure to GE Vernova or Baker Hughes platforms is a significant advantage.
  • Fundamental computer skills and knowledge of digital documentation tools
  • Able to work well within teams, communicate effectively and have analytical mindset.
