Field Service Engineer – Drives/EMS Work is mostly commissioning, installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of GE drives and EMS at customer premises. You’ll influence maximum system reliability, uptime, and performance for our customers.
It requires strong technical knowledge on LV/MV drives (GE or equivalent) and energy management systems and good communication skills and customer contact.
What does a field service engineer do?
Field Service Engineer – Drives/EMS You will:
Troubleshooting & Support
Diagnoses drive and EMS problems at customer sites.
Take remedial actions and give remote support when needed.
Guarantee quick replies to emergency outages.
Installation & Commissioning
Assembly and start-up of GE drives and EMS systems.
Perform project documentation, which includes writing commissioning procedures, test reports, and daily logs.
Function as an on-site technical lead and liaison to contractors and customer teams.
Customer Engagement & Training
Train the customer team on GE drives and EMS functions on a hands-on basis.
Recommend improvement, spare parts, and service to enhance customer equipment.
Supporting customers in preventative maintenance and inspection planning.
Collaboration & Growth
Work with engineering, sales, and product teams at GE to determine customer requirements.
Advertise maintenance services and search for growth.
Provide content for marketing initiatives and new service launches.
Administrative & Reporting Duties
File comprehensive service reports and in-house procedures accurately.

GE field service engineer qualifications
Basic Requirements
BS in Electrical Engineering or a relevant field.
Minimum 3 years of Field Service and/or Commissioning experience.
will need to live in the US for this one.
Eligibility Requirements
Travel 85%, at times on short notice.
Ability to work on ships, offshore, and in shipyards, maintaining strict safety protocols.
The ability to work long hours and overtime in time of peak demand.
Willingness to work in a construction type environment where noise levels, temperatures and other conditions may vary (PPE provided).
Desired Characteristics
A diploma or degree in electrical engineering, or equivalent technical background.
Familiarity with GE Drive Systems (MV7000, SD7000, MV3000, MD2000, LV7000).
Experience with ABB, Siemens, Schneider, Vacon and Allen-Bradley drive systems.
Experience with GE system controllers (PEC, PECe, CDC).
Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
Clear verbal, written communication for customer communications.
Highly motivated and able to plan and prioritise in a fast-paced environment.
Proficient in using computers and software including MS Office.
