Alpha Offshore are looking for talented, motivated, and skilled Wind Technician (experience on GE Wind Turbines), travelling across US. to join our team of those passionate about Renewable Energy. Houston, TX-based travel responsible to wind farm sites for maintenance on specific systems.\_ In this role, you will travel to various locations in multiple states to complete tests and analysis for repairs and re-commissioning of wind energy systems.

For Wind Jobs in Texas – Responsibilities

  • Oversee GE wind turbine systems for the purpose of maintenance, troubleshooting, and/ or repair upgrades.
  • Inspect or repair turbines, turbine blades, or towers or supervise workers performing similar tasks.
  • Work with hand power tools to accomplish mechanical or electrical tasks
  • Perform performance testing and system diagnostics to verify turbine operation
  • Record details of reports, service, and maintenance functions perform.
  • Comply with all site and industry safety requirements and standards
  • Work closely with site management, engineers, and support technicians to optimize turbine performance

Wind Turbine Technician Requirements & Experience

  • Previous WT Technician experience, with preference on GE platforms
  • Thorough knowledge of low voltage electrical systems and mechanical problem solving
  • Able to work at high altitudes and in various weather conditions
  • Experience with generating facilities, SCADA data and turbine diagnostics is a plus
  • Work independently while staying in contact with a remote team
  • Current valid driver’s license and the ability to travel extensively to various client sites.

The Engineer II, Wind Operations Engineering supports operations for onshore wind projects with technical expertise. This role will collaborate closely with the Asset Managers, Operations and Maintenance staff, Project Managers and other O&M Engineering teams to identify, quantify, analyze, report, and resolve the root causes of fleet performance and reliability issues. This position will be responsible for all of the renewables assets in the Americas once the project is out of construction completion and through decommissioning, focusing on achieving Operational performance and repairing legacy problems at developed projects.

As the fleet gets older and RWECE expands the position is designed to support our growing asset base and the increasing maintenance activity that is usually associated with an aging system.

Be a part of Wind Operations:

  • Assess the criticality of each drivetrain component failure mode and assess the possibility of catastrophic failure
  • Backs root cause analysis and corrective action of drivetrain damage and failures
  • Lastly, do drivetrains_ accordingly Pop Matrix of the slot.
  • Support (and/or workout, in coordination with third-party consultants) root cause analysis to identify primary contributors to key failures and identify and implement solutions that address plant operation efficiency and/or safety or technical reliability concerns
  • Measurement and KPI’s to guide the performance of the team on project delivery and accuracy.
  • Lead efforts to establish engineering practices and processes that enhance quality, productivity, and performance
  • Behave in line with the Company’s values and conduct as embodied in RWECE’s HR policies

Job Requirements and Experiences as a Mechanical Engineering:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent from an accredited university is required Advanced degree preferred
  • At least 5 years related experience in mechanical engineering is desired
  • Practical experience using equipment used for renewable energy in the field, such as utility-scale wind turbines
  • Proven ability to lead root cause and corrective action problem 
  • Solving for mechanical components Proven ability to create component or repair specifications and qualify mechanical components for purchase or repair with suppliers
  • Good interpersonal skills, capable of relationship management with customers Proven eagerness to get to know Company and the renewables sector
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Power Point, Outlook)
  • Teams Strong organizational leadership and communication, also ability to adhere to deadlines
  • Strong organization and ability to manage numerous tasks and deliverables
  • Must have the ability to work on several tasks at the same time, independently and in a team environment
  • Highly motivated self-starter, results orientated, and good problem solving skills
