Offshore Wind Jobs Virginia – Key Responsibilities:

Installation and Assembly:

Preassembly of turbine platforms, LV and SWG.

Assemble the Tower negotiating legs, cable tray, padeyes, mechanical brackets, hydraulic turn table, mechanical lift system and other necessary components from engineering drawings and Siemens Gamesa work instructions.

Turbine-Specific Enclosures such as control cabinets and/or de-humidification systems.

Maintenance and Repair:

Perform diagnostic checks of mechanical and electrical assemblies.

Diagnose pre-assembly performance concerns Detect and resolve potential runtime performance issues.

Collaborate with QA and Engineering teams to ensure all parts meet manufacturer current &project requirements.

Safety and Compliance:

There isn’t one, be scrupulous with HSE in a high risk harbor environment.

Attend JSSI, project risk assessments, and site surveys.

Always wear and use PPE and use ergonomic and lift assistance when appropriate.

Documentation and Reporting:

Daily Reports Must do, Task list, As built to be filled up on all works.

Reporting of nonconformance, unsafe conditions, or defective materials or equipment to the Project Manager or Field Supervisor.

And log any updates or changes made to those in the pre-assembly stage.

Team Collaboration:

Work as part of an interdisciplinary team of technicians, QC inspectors, scientists and engineers.

Support the training of new or more junior staff and encourage a knowledge exchange environment.

Participate in tool box talks, job procedure briefs, and skills training courses.

Previous mechanical or electrical troubleshooting expereince or technical experience with wind turbines/product assembly.

Prior experience with Siemens Gamesa wind turbine platforms a plus

Strong mechanical skills and ability to read blueprints

🔹 What is “harbor-based pre-assembly”?

It involves the land based part of Ocean turbine installation, in which wind turbine components such as tower sections, platforms and an internal shaft system, get preassembled in a port. These elements are then towed at sea for their final installation.

🔹 Is this a remote role?

NO. The position is purely onshore, based in Portsmouth Harbor, but supporting an offshore wind farm. Techs are part of the offshore readiness but don’t travel offshore with this team.

🔹 Do I have to be experienced with Siemens Gamesa turbines?

And although it is not required, we would expect experience with Siemens Gamesa platforms (and SG 14-222 DD in particular). Candidates who have similar experience in turbine or industrial assembly are also encouraged to apply.

Yes, traveling techs do get daily per diems if you qualify. There is also housing that can be offered depending on project logistics and length of stay.
