Offshore Wind Jobs Virginia – Key Responsibilities:

Installation and Assembly:

Preassembly of turbine platforms, LV and SWG.

Assemble the Tower negotiating legs, cable tray, padeyes, mechanical brackets, hydraulic turn table, mechanical lift system and other necessary components from engineering drawings and Siemens Gamesa work instructions.

Turbine-Specific Enclosures such as control cabinets and/or de-humidification systems.

Maintenance and Repair:

Perform diagnostic checks of mechanical and electrical assemblies.

Diagnose pre-assembly performance concerns Detect and resolve potential runtime performance issues.

Collaborate with QA and Engineering teams to ensure all parts meet manufacturer current &project requirements.

Safety and Compliance:

There isn’t one, be scrupulous with HSE in a high risk harbor environment.

Attend JSSI, project risk assessments, and site surveys.

Always wear and use PPE and use ergonomic and lift assistance when appropriate.

Documentation and Reporting:

Daily Reports Must do, Task list, As built to be filled up on all works.

Reporting of nonconformance, unsafe conditions, or defective materials or equipment to the Project Manager or Field Supervisor.

And log any updates or changes made to those in the pre-assembly stage.

Team Collaboration:

Work as part of an interdisciplinary team of technicians, QC inspectors, scientists and engineers.

Support the training of new or more junior staff and encourage a knowledge exchange environment.

Participate in tool box talks, job procedure briefs, and skills training courses.

Wind Turbine Technician Jobs With Qualifications:

Previous mechanical or electrical troubleshooting expereince or technical experience with wind turbines/product assembly.

Prior experience with Siemens Gamesa wind turbine platforms a plus

Lifting 50+ Lbs & physical Fortitude, Working and performing tasks outdoors, Ability to work in all environmental conditions

Strong mechanical skills and ability to read blueprints

Government issued ID or drivers license

Background check and drug screen required

🔹 What is “harbor-based pre-assembly”?

It involves the land based part of Ocean turbine installation, in which wind turbine components such as tower sections, platforms and an internal shaft system, get preassembled in a port. These elements are then towed at sea for their final installation.

🔹 Is this a remote role?

NO. The position is purely onshore, based in Portsmouth Harbor, but supporting an offshore wind farm. Techs are part of the offshore readiness but don’t travel offshore with this team.

🔹 Do I have to be experienced with Siemens Gamesa turbines?

And although it is not required, we would expect experience with Siemens Gamesa platforms (and SG 14-222 DD in particular). Candidates who have similar experience in turbine or industrial assembly are also encouraged to apply.

🔹 Is there a per diem or housing provided?

Yes, traveling techs do get daily per diems if you qualify. There is also housing that can be offered depending on project logistics and length of stay.

🔹 What kind of work is it?

This fulltime position is based at Lal Lal Wind Farm, near Yendon VIC. You will be part of a small team of site service technicians responsible for safe maintenance and servicing of state-of-the-art onshore wind turbines.

Physical demands and competencies

Travelling Wind Turbine Technician Jobs Description

A Travelling Wind Turbine Technician or Tech will work nationwide under the guidance of a team of highly skilled professionals to care for the facilities around the wind turbine and the wind turbine itself. The Teams are responsible for the upkeep of the site surrounding the turbine, including minor cleaning and repairs. A high awareness of these security procedures and the discipline as a whole is essential to and employee’s safety while on the job.

Wind Technician Jobs Entry Level Summary

  • Build and install wind turbines per standard operations procedures.
  • Commission and/or Trouble Shoot wind turbines.
  • Maintenance works – re-power, torque/tension, cleaning.

Wind Turbine Offshore Technician Jobs Responsibilities

  • Ensure you read and comprehend mechanical drawing;
  • Can Stick to standard work procedures for installation of turbine.
  • Executing the required work for installed, serviced and maintenance WTG, etc.
  • Perform maintenance work with minimal supervision.
  • Perform required duties based on the GWS safety protocol and procedures and wear PPE when required.
  • Be present at site induction, as well as another requested site meeting conducted by the client and GWS.
  • Safety-oriented. Report near misses, incidents and accidents to the site Manager.
  • Mandatory training and education require by the sit Manager or the client.
  • Use all equipment and tools in a safe, responsible manner.
  • Perform requisite equipment maintenance and maintenance on tool while installation site.
  • Maintain a clean work site to prevent accidents and increase efficiency.
  • Meet weekly report deadline for work time, work progress report and traveling report.
  • Ability to work at height, includes physical fit to climb. Flexibility to travel extensively and work in varying and adverse weather conditions.
  • Flexibility to work overtime hours on a weekly basis, including nights and weekends.

Requirements for Wind Tech Jobs

  • High School or equivalent –
  • 1+ years Experience in the turbine field as a WTG technician.
  • Mechanical/technical education.-
  • Experience in installing and pre-installation, ability to climb upward up to 400 ft. on a daily basis.
  • Cooperative, communicative, open-mined and flexible – respectful other and other culture. :
  • Ability to work at remote site in bad weather condition, work with diverse group of individual. :
  • Ability and willingness to travel and work domestic and international trip as required
  • Ability and confidence to work at height – physical fitness to climb.
  • Professional one with a high emphasis on Quality and Safety:- Valid GWO Training and OGUK Medical Fit
