Wind Technician Job Responsibilities
Turbine & Site Operations
Service and repair wind turbine assemblies as needed.
The ability troubleshoot the mechanical, electrical, hydraulic turbine systems.
Keep Balance of Plant (BOP) comprising substations and collectors
Safety & Compliance
Perform all activities in line with RWE Safety Rules
Ensure to follow appropriate LOTO procedures and locate the energy isolation points
Take part in safety drills and training
Documentation & Coordination
Record service provided on the online maintenance system
Preserve tools, site vehicles and machinery in a ready for use condition
Act as Technical Support and Back up for other RWE sites as required
Skills & Qualifications
Education & Experience
High School graduate or GED equivalent (technical degree preferred)
Experience in the power industry of 6+ years, and in wind industry of over 2 years is a plus
Military or certified technical training, ok.
Adequate and unrestricted driver’s license
Technical Skills
Intermediate PC skills(Basic MS Office/Teams)
Mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic schematic discernment
Understand various wind turbine systems (GE, Vestas, Siemens Gamesa etc.)
Knowledge in AC/DC converters, relays, sensors, and motor drives
Physical Requirements For Wind Energy Career
Weight Limit: Below 270 lbs for safe use in climbing parties
Climbing in and out of the tower and operating a hatch into the tower on a daily basis.Accessing confined spaces.
Can lift up to 50 lbs and work in inclement weather conditions
Good balance and stamina to be on feet for extended periods
