Wind Technician Job Description
As a Wind Technician III you will be performing preventative maintenance, repairs, and technical support on wind turbine power generation equipment, as well as other mechanical and electrical equipment. You’ll mentor, coach and develop junior technicians, plus ensure jobs are carried out safely and efficiently in accordance and compliant with ISO standards.
Position Specific Description As a Wind Technician you will be responsible for the operation, maintenance and testing of wind turbine systems, often PUSHING THE LIMIT AND MECHANICS OF A MACHINE with mechanical, diagnostics, electric testing of the equipment. You’ll also provide guidance to junior technicians and ensure the safe and efficient operation of equipment while in compliance with ISO standards.
Onshore Wind Jobs Responsibilities
Maintenance & Repairs
- Carry out planned mechanical, hydraulic & electrical maintenance.
- Aid in small and major component installs and troubleshooting.
- Perform current/voltage calculations, and fill out appropriate documentation (LOTO, JSA, etc.).
- Guarantee job security and ISO9001/14001/18001 compliance.
Operational Support
- Train and oversee lower-level technicians on technical repairs.
- Assist switchyard, crane and rigging activities.
- Gather data, generate reports, and assist in QA/QC efforts.
- Respond to site emergencies and assist with regional wind maintenance.
Wind Technician Job Rankin, TX Requirements
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Technical Engineering OR 36 months’ experience in wind industry.
- 12 months of experience performing the following:
- DMMs, meggger and calibration gear.
- Theory and troubleshooting of Electricity.
- Microsoft Office, SQL, databases/CMMS systems.
- Voltage testers, hydraulic torque tools, alignment gear.
Physical Requirements:
- Pass a physical fitness test.
- Scale 100+ meter towers (5–15x/week).
- Lift 50 lbs. At all times, use arc flash PPE.
- Work in close quarters and adverse weather.

Travel up to 5%, domestic.
